WHERE DID IT COME FROM?

THE CONCRETE ESTIMATOR was designed and is still used by Gino Graziano of G&G Construction Co. in central California. G&G Construction Co. is an ongoing concrete contractor in business since 1983 and has employed a work force of over 600 employees, (during good market conditions). Gino Graziano developed this estimating program because everything available on the market seemed to have been developed by accountants instead of contractors.

WHAT KIND OF JOBS IS IT GOOD FOR?

Any job that requires concrete from driveways and walks to large complex jobs that have truck docks, walls, pits, curbs, round columns, tilt up panels and of course - FOUNDATIONS!

HOW COMPLICATED IS IT TO RUN?

This estimating program is designed by a Contractor and for a contractor or his employees. G & G Currently employs 6 estimaors and none of them have ever poured concrete for a living.

WHAT KIND OF COMPUTER DO I NEED?


This program is designed to run in Windows XP or Vista. We recommend a Pentium 166 w/32 meg ram. A laptop is an excellent choice if you want to take it with you to do a"take off" outside of the office.


THE STRATEGY

The Concrete Estimator uses the complete take-off method of estimating. This method actually builds the project as you input your take-off while reporting material quantity and costs instantly and on screen all the time. The completed estimate is easy to audit by the estimator, owner, controller, even the secretary can easily see how much concrete, rebar, sand ,rock etc. is required for each slab, footing, etc.

Although this program is called The Concrete Estimator, it is really The Concrete Calculator. All material is calculated according to your take off to 6 places passed the decimal point. The only part of the bid that can really be called estimating is labor. By performing all necessary calculations automatically the stress to get all the numbers right is virtually eliminated and the focus on labor becomes simpler and more relaxed.

What makes this program unique is that there are no assemblies. It is the experience of the author that the use of assemblies or modules reduces the ability to properly visualize the entire bid. The variations of footings is so great that when an estimate is generated, it is just as easy to input the entire footing with rebar, as it is to find the appropriate pre-assembled footing and then input the lineal feet or number each. The same can be said for slabs walls and columns.

A WORD ABOUT DIGITIZERS

Digitizers are a great way to get the quantity of square feet or lineal feet or even areas from you plans.  Many digitizer programs have a overlya program that will allow you to send numbers directly to The Concrete Estimator.

 

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
